Being Born Again

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Rom 8:29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Rom 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Rom 8:31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Today I do not want to discuss predestination in the sense of goats vs sheep, I want to just look at the results and benefits of being a child of God.
In John 3 a Jewish leader called Nicodemus came to Jesus at night,John 3:3  Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. This was a new concept for this religious leader, he had trouble grasping the concept of a new birth.

(John 3:4) I remember when Jimmy Carter was campaigning for President, he referred to himself as being a born again Christian.  To some, like Nicodemus, this was a new term they did not understand and to others it was a deciding factor on who to vote for. But what Jesus was talking about was a completely changed life.

2Co 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Being Born Again means to be born to a newness of life. To actually die to the old sinful lifestyle.

Gal 5:24  And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
To no longer be condemned by sin but to be born into the Royal Family of God.

Rom 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
