Before I jot down what I understood from the Word of God. I would like to say, I am no theology student, I am no expert in the Word, you can correct me if you may :)
This passage talks about Jesus feeding the Five Thousand. Jesus always dealt with the situation knowing the character of the person/ people who were the subjects of his ministry. Today, we construct our thoughts and opinions about people around OUR OWN opinions and thought patterns! Jesus modus operandi baffles me, He’s got His signature style in every situation.
My perspective on the passage John 6:1-5
Vision (John 6:5) Jesus sees the crowd in His Spirit much before the crowd sees him.
Compassion (John 6:5) Jesus was compassionate, and He knew the needs (not greeds) of the crowd.
Sincere Intention (John 6:5) There was no intention to convert the people , using this meal. The crowd came to him to listen to what he had to speak (again not for the food, they didn’t know there would be food provided)
Till everything is put on the line before God (John 6:9): I notice, Jesus takes the LAST HOPE of food in that crowd and multiplies it!, The boy had the 5 small loaves of bread and two fish. Sometimes all that is left is that 5 small loaves and 2 fish, You got to be ready to give it your all. Examples can also be Moses’s “Staff” or Aaron’s “Rod”! What is that talent that you have, that can be used by God, in the marketplace!
Faith (John 6:10): Faith without works is dead! We need to take some steps in faith (works) to see God’s work.
Give Thanks (John 6:11): Many of us, have forgotten to thank God for His favor. Jesus Christ is God! If he could thank His Father in Heaven, how much more should we?!
Excess was given out! (John 6:12): Excessive of anything is to be shared! It was intended for us to bless someone. Today, the church is a paralyzed body. We are a bunch of believers and preachers who live in excessiveness not bothered about our brother / evangelist in the village, who cycles for 50 kilometres to reach out, and is still persecuted! We talk prosperity for our own profit!
Still being humble in front of God’s plans (6:15): This particularly interests me. The people wanted to make Jesus the King. But Jesus knew, the perfect plan of His Father, he withdrew himself from the crowd to pray and to listen from his father. Sometimes, we testify in our churches by equating success with becoming a king and not a savior!
You are Unique in the eyes of God, and He is got that perfect plan for you! There is only ONE YOU(you can put in your name) in this world of 6 and half billion people! What’s your call!
